Conditions We
Consult
Musculoskeletal injuries
Musculoskeletal injuries are among the most common work-related injuries. They result from the damage of muscular or skeletal systems, which usually occur due to activities that require workers to adopt an awkward posture or due to a strenuous and/or repetitive activity. Exercise physiology intervention is used to assist injured workers return to work quickly and safely with learned skills to self-manage their condition and avoid re-injury.
Mental health and illness
Exercise enhances mental health by reducing anxiety, stress, depression, and negative mood and by improving memory, concentration, self-esteem, cognitive function and sleep patterns. It’s also very important to address mental health issues during rehabilitation, as it can directly impact the recovery process. Our exercise physiologists understand that health problems significantly increase the risk of developing mental health problems, and vice versa. Our approach when treating mental disorders complement traditional mental health interventions.
Cardiometabolic disorders
The cardiometabolic disorders are caused by is a constellation of health issues involving metabolic dysfunction and cardiovascular conditions. Clinically assessed risk components such as obesity, hypertension, insulin resistance, cholesterol and blood glucose levels heighten the risk of onset cardiometabolic diseases including heart disease, stroke and diabetes. The implementation of physical activity programs can prevent and reduce the development and progression of these conditions. Our programs are tailored in accordance to the requirements of each client, with a focus on self-management.
Respiratory conditions
Individuals with chronic respiratory conditions such as COPD, Asthma, Bronchiectasis and Lung Disease tend to have higher levels of deconditioning resulting in decreases of cardiovascular health, muscular strength and overall wellbeing. There are many barriers that could limit the participation of a chronic respiratory condition patient in exercises, highlighting the importance of having experienced Exercise Physiologists to prescribe a personalised exercise program. We assess breathing technique and ensure the client is correctly diaphragmatically breathing. We then prescribe treatments such as airway clearance or diaphragm strengthening to treat the condition.
Chronic conditions
Conclusive evidence demonstrates that physical inactivity is one important cause of most chronic diseases. In addition, physical activity prevents and reduce the risk of chronic conditions. Regular exercise helps improve your overall health, fitness, and quality of life, also assisting with the management of chronic conditions. We offer exercise physiology services for a range of chronic conditions mainly through Life Insurance/Income Protection policy.
Early intervention and prevention
Early intervention is the process of providing specialist intervention and support to a person who is experiencing or demonstrating any of the early symptoms of injury, usually work-related. Intervention is not only critical for preventing or reducing the progress of an injury, but for improving a person’s functional capacity and minimising the volume/duration of potential Workers’ Compensation claims.
Disabilities
For people with disabilities, physical activity also can help support daily living activities and independence. Research shows that exercise has profound and measurable benefits for people living with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities too. Sometimes, physical activity can be a challenge due to mobility issues or a lack of accessible and inclusive gyms and other exercise spaces. Our exercise physiologists will use their expertise to develop the most appropriate exercise program for each person’s conditions and goals, improving quality of life and overall health.
